A large mass is seen in the medial thigh. This mass is very bright on T1-weighted images. It is somewhat bright on the T2-weighted fast spin echo images. With fat suppression and gadolinium, much of the signal of the mass suppresses, though significant enhancement is still seen.

Case Discussion

Liposarcoma is one of the most common soft tissue sarcomas, with a peak incidence in the 5th decade. It usually involves the thigh, lower leg, retroperitoneum, or buttock. Metastases are uncommon with well-differentiated tumors but occur more frequently with pleomorphic and round cell types. Lungs and the viscera are the most common sites for metastases.
