Cerebral infarcts with cortical mineralization

Presentation

Patient with a prior history of infarction.

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Female

CT shows extensive hypodensites in the left occipital lobe and left parietal lobe.

CT one month later

Computed tomography shows linear hyperdensities outlining the cortex of the previously infarcted regions which corresponds.

Case Discussion

Cortical mineralization is fairly common following stroke and should not be mistaken for cortical laminar necrosis which refers to damage limited to specific layers of the cortex.
