Low flow vascular malformation - knee

Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Swelling on lateral - superior aspect of knee - 8 yrs. ? local penetrating injury - 8 yrs back. Knee radiograph - no soft tissue abnormality.

Patient Data

Age: 18 yrs
Gender: Male
ultrasound

Multiple serpentile cystic spaces are noted at the site of swelling. Low level echoes are noted moving within a larger space. No calcification is noted. The lesion is compressible. The lesion involves the vastus lateralis muscle.

No obvious intra-articular extension is localized.

Flow is noted at rest.  Increased flow is noted with compression.

No suprapatellar effusion is noted.

MR followed confirming the diagnosis. There was intraarticular extension noted by MRI ( No copy right, not uploaded ).
