Presentation

Presents for spine x-ray for scoliosis.

Patient Data

Age: 14 years
Gender: Female

Homogeneous soft tissue mass in the lingual area. 

Mild lumbar scoliosis, with convexity towards right side.

CT angiography of the chest demonstrated cystic masses that were enhanced like pulmonary vessels and had feeding artery and evacuator vein, in keeping with an arteriovenous malformation. 

Case Discussion

Pulmonary arteriovenous malformation (PAVM) is an abnormal communication between the pulmonary artery and the pulmonary vein. PAVMs are usually congenital in origin.
