Outline the anatomical spaces of the neck.
The neck is divded into mutliple anatomical spaces, which are of huge significant to the surgeon in terms of their surgical approach. They also have relevant to the lymphatic drainage, which itself is classified into levels I - V.
Which spaces of the neck are involved in this case?
Submandibular, parapharyngeal, retropharyngeal and pre-vertebral spaces.
Left submandibular space collection extending posteriorly via the left parapharyngeal space around the pharynx into the retropharyngeal space.
The collection further involves the pre-vertebral space with extension nto the superior mediastinum.
