What is Osgood-Schlatter disease?
It is a chronic fatigue injury due to repeated microtrauma to involving the patellar ligament insertion onto the tibial tuberosity.
What is its incidence?
Seen in active adolescents, more frequently in boys and bilateral in up to 25-50% of patients.
What advice could you give to patient?
Decreasing activities (especially jumping or lunging sports); and quadriceps and hamstring strengthening exercises.
Fragmentation of the tibial tuberosity bilaterally.
