Pleomorphic adenoma - parotid gland

Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Swelling near angle of mandible for the last 2 years.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Female
ultrasound

An ovoid, well-defined, hypoechoic mass lesion is seen in superficial lobe of LEFT parotid gland. Few tiny cystic foci are noted. Posterior acoustic enhancement is present.

No calcification is seen. Internal arterial flow is seen.

It meausres 16 x 13 x 12 mm.

No other abnormality noted in rest of the ultrasound of neck.

Case Discussion

Ultrasound findings of a solid intraparotid lesion.

FNA - Pleomorphic adenoma.

Surgical excision done.

Histopathology - Pleomorphic adenoma.
