What is the usual management of choice for psoas haematomas?
Provided there is no ureteric or nerve injury, conservative monitoring is the management of choice.
Where is a psoas haematoma anatomically located?
In the retrofascial space, posterior to the peritoneal sac. This is behind the retroperitoneum.
- Right psoas haematoma as described secondary to penetrating injury with a small amount of retroperitoneal haematoma anterior to the psoas. No evidence of renal parenchymal, vascular injury or CT evidence of active bleeding.
