Presentation
Presents with 25 kg of weight loss with possible mediastinal mass on CXR with tracheal deviation.
Patient Data
A large multinodular thyroid with calcified modules demonstrating retrosternal extension predominantly on the left with tracheal deviation to the right. The trachea is not significantly narrowed.
Case Discussion
The above case demonstrates a multinodular thyroid with calcification and retrosternal extension. In general ultrasound is the imaging modality of choice in the assessment of thyroid masses however CT provides more information about a restrosternal goiter and its relationship to surrounding structures including the trachea, esophagus, and great vessels1.
