Approximately what density is intraperitoneal fluid if it is blood related to recent trauma?
Unclotted fresh blood measures 20-45 HU. Clotted blood measures 45-70 HU.
Abdomen/Pelvis
- Large acute right rectus sheath haematoma with active bleeding.
- Perihepatic haemoperitoenum with haematocrit level. No underlying liver laceration.
- Large mural haematoma involving the hepatic flexure - no free gas to suggest full mural penetration; however, this cannot be excluded.
- Pelvic free fluid of blood density.
Incidental findings:
- Previous gastric surgery and cholecystectomy.
