What type of arthritis do you suspect?
Psoriatic arthritis is the most likely based on the imaging findings.
What are some extraskeletal manifestations of psoriasis?
Plaque-like skin lesions, typically over the extensor surface of the elbow. Nail changes include pitting and onycholysis.
How common is psoriasis?
Approximately 2.5% of the population is affected in the West. It is much less common in Japan, South America and other ethnic groups.
Bony destruction consistent with arthritis deformans is seen with "pencil-in-cup" deformity of the DIP of the index and PIP of the ring finger. No significant juxta-articular osteopaenia or other joint involvement is seen. Findings are consistent with known psoriatic arthritis.
