Ultrasound images show that the bladder is partially filled with hyperechoic foci in the right vesicoureteric junction (VUJ) with distal shadowing on B-mode. The colour Doppler study shows twinkling artifact posterior to the hyperechoic foci suggesting it is a calculus. Colour Doppler shows a continuous slow ureteric jet on the right side in comparison with the intermittent ureteric jet on the left side and B-mode images of the right kidney appears relatively normal without a dilated pelvicalyceal system suggestive of a non-obstructive right VUJ calculus.
