Presentation
A pedunculated lesion of the right breast of a Caucasian asymptomatic 35 year old woman was observed.
Patient Data
The woman during breastfeeding a 4 month baby, 5 years before, suffered of cracked and bleeding nipples, especially the right nipple. After the end of breastfeeding, the lesion grew.
There was no history of nipple discharge and surrounding skin changes, and no history of similar lesion in the family.
The clinical and ultrasound examinations of both breasts were normal, remarkably the contralateral nipple was normal.
Pedunculated tumor arising from the right nipple. The diameter of the lesion is about 4 mm.
Case Discussion
The lesion was excised under local anesthesia and pathological report confirmed the diagnosis of fibroma of nipple.
Due the history of the patient, a traumatic etiology of the lesion is conceivable.
