Presented with history of birth asphyxia.

Patient Data

Age: 1 month
Gender: Male
ultrasound

There is bilateral subcortical cystic leukomalacia in the frontal lobes and areas of increased periventricular echogenicity in the deep white matter.

Case Discussion

This case illustrates a cystic periventricular leukomalacia (PVL) which it is considered a predictive sonographic marker for cerebral palsy. By the images it is possible to classify the PVL as a grade 4.
