Presentation

Swelling and pain to middle knuckle of right hand following punching action. No limitation in movement and normal neurovascular status distally.

Patient Data

Age: 15
Gender: Male
x-ray

Fracture of the neck of the right middle metacarpal bone.

Volar angulation of distal fragment to 115° with some radial rotation.

No articular involvement, but shortening of the bone.

Case Discussion

This patient had a fracture of the middle metacarpal neck.

It was reduced under local anesthesia and repaired in theater.
