Presentation
Left renal colic and hematuria of 1 week duration
Patient Data
CT stone protocol; beside demonstrating left renal stones; it shows a large lower polar left renal mass. Following IV contrast media and triphasic CT acquisition, this mass shows avid arterial enhancement and delayed wash out, with central area of non-enhancement. No invasion to left renal artery, left renal vein or left ureter is demonstrated.
The mass was pathologically proved to be renal cell carcinoma of Clear Cell type
Case Discussion
This clear cell carcinoma of the kidney was found as an incidental finding on a CT study initially booked for the investigation of hematuria on the assumption of stone disease.
