How can one tell if the stomach is adequately coated with barium in a fluoroscopic exam?
There should be a continuous white line around the edge of the stomach. If the areae gastricae can be seen, then this also is an indication of adequate coating, but since they are seen in about 80% of patients, this finding is not reliable for every patient.
