Blind-ending tubular structure arising form the caecal pole with inflammation in the adjacent fat and oedematous swelling of the surrounding illeal loops. Looks like typical appendicitis but the patient has had previous appendicectomy so represents inflammation in the residual appendiceal stump (thus the term "stumpitis").
