Presentation

One month left wrist pain.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Female
x-ray

No fracture or malalignment is identified. Mild soft tissue swelling around the wrist. Periarticular osteopenia. No bony erosions identified.

Case Discussion

Periarticular osteopenia has a wide differential. Considerations include disuse osteopenia, erosive arthritis and complex regional pain syndrome. 

The patient stated she had been resting her hand for the past month due to pain. The cause in this case is not known but disuse osteopenia is favored.
