Posterior urethral valve - antenatal ultrasound

Presentation

Early third trimester scan. No complaints.

Patient Data

Age: about 24 yrs.
Gender: Female

Nearly absent liquor. The over-distended urinary bladder with "key-hole" appearance. Bilateral hydronephrosis and hydroureter. Enlarge right kidney (34 mm length) due to moderate hydronephrosis. Enlarged left kidney (43 mm length)due to severe hydronephrosis. Rim of left perinephric fluid.

Case Discussion

An early third-trimester scan reveals oligohydramnios due to a posterior urethral valve. The urinary bladder shows a keyhole sign.
