Presentation
Right flank pain.
Patient Data
Bilateral nephrolithiasis and a 4.7 mm ureteric calculi in the middle portion of the right ureter promoting mild upward hydronephrosis. Remainder study is unremarkable.
Case Discussion
Ureteric calculi is a common case at the emergency department and commonly require imaging examination. Ultrasound is a good option to approach these patients and it usually point if there is obstructive hydronephrosis or not. However, in some cases a complementary KUB CT is necessary to identify the obstructive cause, especially with gastrointestinal gas avoiding a good sonography window to access the ureters.
