Headache and visual defects.
Patient Data
Intra and supra sellar mass measuring 3cm in its largest axis and compresses the optic chiasm is hypointense on T1 and hyperintense on T2 (predominantly cystic component with mural nodule) .
After contrast demonstrates a suprasellar predominantly cystic mass with peripheral enhancement.
Case Discussion
The patient initially presented with headaches, although deteriorated over the course of a year. Upon development of visual deficits they were subsequently referred to our service for imaging evaluation.
Adamantinomatous craniopharyngioma is the third of three pathologies derived from Rathke's cleft epithelium.
Technically these are benign tumors, but unlike Rathke's cleft cysts, they have thick walls and are locally invasive.
