Presentation
Swelling over proximal interphalangeal joint dorsal aspect for 5-6 months. No trauma. No significant pain.
Patient Data
Well-defined heterogeneously hypoechoic lesion encircling radial lateral extensor tendon slip.
Lesion extends to the radial side of the digit. No extension of the lesion into the proximal interphalangeal joint.
No cystic spaces/calcification in the lesion. Lesion shows vascularity. Approximate Size - 15 x 12 x 11 mm.
Extensor tendon including lateral slip is intact. Flexure tendon is intact. No joint effusion.
Case Discussion
Soft tissue lesion around the radial extensor tendon slip was reported (based on ultrasound study) as possible giant cell tumor of tendon sheath.
Surgical excision of the lesion was done. Histopathology study reveals giant cell tumor of tendon sheath.
