What are the attachments of the soleus muscle?
The soleus muscle is located in the superficial posterior compartment of leg. Origin: posterior surface of the head and upper 1/3 of the shaft of the fibula; middle 1/3 of the medial border of the tibia, tendinous arch between tibia and fibula. Insertion: calcaneus, merging with the distal gastrocnemius muscle via the Achilles tendon
There are incidental prominent bilateral tug lesions along the soleal line: along the proximal attachment of the soleus muscle to the proximal tibia and fibula.
