Presentation

Non-traumatic origin of bilateral hip pain - 3 days. Pain more on left side than right.

Patient Data

Age: 9 years
Gender: Female
x-ray

There is mild left sided pelvic tilt.

There is bulging glueteal fat pad involving both hip joints.

ultrasound

There is presence of effusion involving both hip joints. There is no erosion of visualized femural head - neck cortex on either side. No periarticular abscess / collection / bursitis.

Case Discussion

Findings favor bilateral hip joint effusion.
