Popliteal arteriovenous fistula: post traumatic (on ultrasound)

Presentation

Penetrating injury by knife to popliteal region - about 1 wk back. Local suturing done. Now local bruit.

Patient Data

Age: about 10 yrs
Gender: Male

There is a hypoechoic tract from skin to artery.

There is a fistula between popliteal artery and vein; measuring about 2.5 mm.

There is no thrombosis of artery or vein.

Short venous segment caudal to fistula is dilated.

Tract passes just lateral to tibial nerve. Nerve is intact.
