Right PCA infarct

Presentation

Sudden onset visual disurbance.

Patient Data

Age: 72-year-old
Gender: Female

MRI Brain

MRI images showing an infarction area in the right occipital lobe characterized by high T2 and FLAIR signal and restricted diffusion. There is also ribbons of intrinsic high T1 signal that may represent cortical necrosis, as well as some smooth cortical enhancement. The MRA shows a flow stop at the P1 segment fo the right posterior cerebral artery. 

Case Discussion

The MRI findings are in keeping with a right occipital stroke due a PCA obstruction.
