Tibial plateau fracture: Schatzker type II

Gender: Male

The left knee shows a split fracture of the lateral tibial plateau with depression component (best noted at the sagittal images), these findings are consistent with type II Schatzker fracture.

Joint effusion is also noted (soft tissue window series).

Case Discussion

A type II Schatzker fracture is a combined cleavage and compression fracture of the lateral
tibial plateau. These fractures represent 25% of all tibial plateau fractures.
