Metatarsus adductus

Presentation was changed:
A 10 yearsyear old boy with congenitally deformed feet came to xraythe x-ray department for workup.
Body was changed:

Club foot consists of four components:

  1. Hindfoot equinus 
  2. Hindfoot varus
  3. Metatarsus adductus
  4. Talonavicular subluxation

In Metatarsus adductus there is medial deviation of the first metatarsal with medial displacement of the other metatarsals on the cuneiforms (talus to first metatarsal angle greater than 150).

It is usually bilateral and may be associated with displasiadysplasia of hip joint.

It can be congenital or acquired and is considered as the most common congenital foot abnormality.

It is associated with : Hallux valgus deformity, Congenital club foot, Developmental dysplasia of the hip.
