Duodenal and with large volume of adjacent intra-abdominal free gas. Linear hypodensity through the pancreatic neck in keeping with laceration. Large volume ascites.

Sagittal and 3D reformat demonstrate L2 transverse fracture across the transverse processes, laminae, and articular processes.

Chance fractures, also referred as seatbelt fractures, are flexion-distraction type injuries of the spine that extend to involve all three spinal columns.
There is a high incidence of associated intra-abdominal injuries especially the pancreas and duodenum.
