Longstanding obstructive symptoms. Abnormal X-Ray KUB.

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Male

Round to oval radiopaque stone lying dependent within the thickened wall urinary bladder. The prostate gland is enlarged and indents the base of the bladder. Also, a small diverticulum arises from the left posterior bladder. 

Case Discussion

In adult men, the most common cause of urinary outflow obstruction is an enlarged prostate gland. Among the complications of obstruction are bladder muscular hypertrophy that is seen as diffuse wall thickening, diverticula formation, and urinary stasis that may lead to stone formation.
