What is your diagnosis for that calcified lesion?
Atherosclerotic splenic artery aneurysm, with mural thrombus.
Why this anomaly of the IVC is important to know for radiologists and interventionists?
It may be misinterpreted as periaortic adenopathy and it is a possible cause of difficult transjugular access for infrarenal IVC filter placement.
Confirmed left IVC anomaly and the calcified lesion showed frank connection to the splenic artery and same degree of enhnacement in keeping with a splenic artery aneurysm. Mural thrombus is also seen within.
