Incidental finding at abdominal CT done for follow up after surgical excision of abdominal wall lesion.
Patient Data
A consolidative lesion is seen at the medial aspect of the left lower lung lobe, showing arterial supply from the aorta and drain into the pulmonary veins, surrounded by small tree-in-bud nodules and atelectatic bands.
Case Discussion
The above-described features are suggestive of infected intralobar pulmonary sequestration.
Pulmonary sequestration commonly affects the lower lobes; 60% of intralobar sequestrations affect the left lower lobe, and 40% the right lower lobe with arterial supply from a branch of the aorta. Intralobar sequestration showed no separable pleural lining from the lung and venous drainage via pulmonary veins.
