What is the cause for patient's symptoms?
Diffuse axonal injury - microhaemorrhages are present in typical locations.
What grade of DAI is present?
Grade 2 - deep white matter and corpus callosum microhaemorrhages without posterior fossa involvement.
Scattered throughout the supratentorial white matter, predominantly in the centrum semiovale bilaterally, are abnormal foci of high FLAIR signal, some with central hypointensity. Most of the these have corresponding blooming on susceptibility weighted images consistent with microhaemorrhages on phase imaging. Further microhaemorrhages are noted in the posterior corpus callosum. No convincing posterior fossa microhaemorrhages.
