Avulsion fracture at the insertion of the extensor tendon in the proximal distal phalanx (dorsal aspect).
The reminder of the bones are unremarkable.
Case Discussion
This case illustrates a Mallet fracture: disruption of the extensor mechanism of the finger at the distal interphalangeal joint (DIP). There is avulsion fracture at the dorsal insertion of the extensor tendon at the distal phalanx.
