Lipogranulomatous lymphadenopathy

Presentation

Abdominal pain and fullness for a long time.

Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Male

Large lobulated heterogenous soft tissue mass about 7x7x10 cm is seen within the mesentery. It shows heterogenous enhancement with intervening non enhancing areas of breaking down and degeneration in post contrasted images.Some mesenteric vessels are sandwiched between the mass. Superior mesenteric vessels are displaced by the mass. Another similar smaller mass is also seen posteriorly just above the left renal vein. Misty surrounding peritoneal fat. Aortic, retro-caval, retrocrural, splenic and pelvic enlarged lymph nodes.

pathology

Histopathological results proved to be infectious non suppurative granuloma, tuberculous lymphadenitis.

Case Discussion

Granulomatous lymphadenitis may be noninfectious and infectious types. Infectious granulomatous lymphadenitis can be classified into suppurative lymphadenitis and non-suppurative lymphadenitis like tuberculous lymphadenitis.
