There is mild fusiform dilatation of the descending thoracic aorta just distal to the ligamentum arteriosum measuring approximately 4 cm in diameter. The aortic wall has a smooth contour with no atheromatous plaque, penetrating ulcer or dissection flap. No mediastinal haematoma.
