What are the major findings and the diagnosis?
Fusion (ankylosis) of the spine and sacroiliac joints. Features are consistent with ankylosing spondylitis.
Which ankylosis manifests first, sacroiliac joints or spine?
Sacroiliitis is usually the first manifestation. Symmetrical and bilateral, following the steps: loss of cortical definition > erosions > joint widening > sclerosis > ankylosis
Selected images demonstrating spine ankylosis involving continuously all the thoracolumbar contemplated vertebral bodies. There is also fusion of both sacroiliac joints.
