Presentation

Distal esophageal tumor. Day 7 post Ivor Lewis procedure. Anastomosis check.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Male
Fluoroscopy

Status post Ivor Lewis procedure.

Left pleural drain.   

Gastro-esophageal anastomosis.

No leak.

Case Discussion

An Ivor Lewis procedure is typically undertaken for distal esophageal malignancy.

The stomach is 'pulled' into the thoracic cavity giving a distinct appearance on swallow studies, with the rugal folds of the stomach evident.

This shows normal post operative appearances.
