Presentation

Epigastric pain and vomiting.

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Female
x-ray

A rounded gallbladder-shaped density superimposed over the right upper quadrant with multiple radiolucencies.

Since contrast media has not been given recently, the radiopacity within the gallbladder represents milk of calcium bile.

ultrasound

Gallstones with posterior acousting shadow were found on a bedside ultrasound study in the emergency room.

Case Discussion

The terms limy bile and calcium milk gallbladder can be used interchangeably for milk of calcium in the gallbladder and/or bile ducts. There is an association with cholecystitis and chronic cholecystitis.
