Presentation
Trauma to 3rd finger while catching a cricket ball - 4 days back.
Patient Data
There is an avulsion fracture of the distal phalanx base on its dorsal side. The extensor tendon is intact, reaching to the avulsed fracture fragment. There is no joint effusion. Dynamic scan (not uploaded) shows intact tendon movement with joint movement.
The asymptomatic side was examined for comparison. It shows normal findings.
Case Discussion
The patient presented with a classic history of cricket ball injury to the fingertip. Ultrasound shows a bony avulsion injury at the dorsum of the distal phalanx base with an intact extensor tendon terminal slip.
