Dural venous sinus septic thrombosis

Case contributed by Frank Gaillard
Diagnosis certain

Extensive septic thrombosis of the superior ophthalmic veins, cavernous sinuses, and inferior petrosal sinuses. Also thrombosed are the transverse sinus on the right and right internal jugular vein.

Case Discussion

This case nicely demonstrates that cavernous venous sinus thrombosis rarely occurs in isolation, with thrombosis of other dural venous sinuses and cerebral veins being very common.
