Presentation

Abdominal colic and constipation.

Patient Data

Age: 70
Gender: Male

Significantly hypoechoic thickening of the colonic wall at the sigmoid descending passage level with pseudo-kidney image

Neoplastic stenosis of the sigmoid descending passage with small lymphadenopathies in the perivisceral adipose tissue.

Case Discussion

Ultrasound can see changes of the colonic wall with an image "pseudo-kidney", in which the regular alternation of layers is interrupted by the neoplastic lesion hypoechoic and infiltrating.

Infiltrated and hypoechoic walls reduce the width of the lumen in which air trapped that appears hyperechoic resulting pseudo-kidney appearance.
