Normal brain fetal MRI (26 weeks)

Presentation

MCDA with co-twin demise. Rule out brain injury in surviving twin.

Patient Data

Age: 26w GA
Gender: Female

Normal supratentorial fetal brain. The cerebellum on 5th centile in size but of normal morphology. Note acute angle on posterior aspect of Sylvian fissure, progressive opercularization evident on all three planes, and clear development of central sulcus. Well developed hippocampal sulci noted on coronal images. Lamination is still present but less evident.

Case Discussion

Normal fetal MRI brain, apart from cerebellum on 5th centile in size but of normal morphology. 

Compare with normal fetal brain MRI scans at 22 weeks and at 24 weeks gestation.
