Diffuse gyriform diffusion restriction involving supratentorial cortex with involvement deep grey matter nuclei. Focal hemorrhage in the genu of corpus callosum. Preferential sparing of brain stem and cerebellum with a normal angiogram study.
Case Discussion
Acute global ischemic insult is typified in this case following a cardiac arrest wherein the vital structures of the brain confined to the posterior fossa are selectively spared from insult whilst the supratentorial neuroparenchyma takes the brunt of the insult. Focal hemorrhage in the genu of corpus callosum could be a sequelae of anticoagulants administered to avert prothrombotic state.
