Presentation
Prolonged post-partum bleeding.
Patient Data
A left sided adnexal cystic mass lesion noted averaging 6.2 x 4.3 cm showing predominantly both T1 and T2 hyperintense signal with suppression in the fat-saturation sequence (denoting fat content) as well as a small soft tissue intensity. These features are in favor of an ovarian dermoid cyst.
Case Discussion
Ovarian mature cystic teratoma is a common ovarian neoplasm with rich fat content and is easily confirmed on MRI. It can cause abnormal uterine bleeding owing to its possible hormonal effect, pelvic pain due to mass effect or even remain asymptomatic which is a commoner presentation.
