Case Discussion

Fractures of the calcaneus are classified into intraarticular and extraarticular fractures depending on the involvement of the subtalar joint and are further classified into:

  • type A fractures: the anterior process of the calcaneus is fractured
  • type B: fracture of the mid calcaneus, trochlear process, and sustentaculum tali
  • type C: fracture of the posterior tuberosity

Our case is classified as a type C calcaneal fracture as the fracture line involves the posterior process of the bone.
