Presentation

Vague abdominal pain.

Patient Data

Age: 51
Gender: Male

In the right mid abdomen there is a blind ending, air-filled, distended tubular/diverticular structure originating off the distal ileal bowel, measuring approximately 6.5 cm in length. The base of the diverticulum is narrowed at its origin. There is no signs of inflammation about the diverticula.

Liver cysts are noted. Bilateral renal cyst. Small hiatal hernia.

 

Nuclear medicine

Technetium 99m pertechnetate Meckel scan. The scan shows faint focal uptake in the right upper-mid abdomen on the 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25-minute delayed images.

Case Discussion

Patient complained of chronic vague abdominal pain for many years. The CT and Meckel diverticulum scan showed findings consistent for Meckel diverticulum.
