Presentation

Chronic knee pain. No prior medical or surgical history.

Patient Data

Age: 55 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

Pellegrini-Stieda lesion seen at the medial aspect of medial femoral condyle indicating previous medial collateral ligament (MCL) injury. 

Mild degenerative changes in tibiofemoral joint.

Case Discussion

Pellegrini-Stieda lesions are post-traumatic ossified lesions where the medial collateral ligament attaches to the medial femoral condyle. 

In most cases the patient is asymptomatic, however, a small percentage of patients can suffer from chronic knee pain as in this case.
