Presentation
Acute onset vertigo and severe weakness.
Patient Data
Normal brain CT
Well circumscribed, small oval lesion in the midline within the substance of the splenium of corpus callosum which is hyperintense on T2WI and FLAIR, isointense on T1WI1
Normal follow up brain MRI 10 days later without any treatment and the patient was symptom-free.
Case Discussion
The small midline splenial lesion disappeared on the follow-up MRI, thus proving to be a transient lesion of the splenium.
As the patient had viral upper respiratory infection and fever about one week earlier, viral etiology is the most probable cause of symptoms in this case.
